Perfect experience for personal growth

Albano from Italy, Winter Semester 2022/2023

Hello everyone,

I’m Albano and I am currently at the end of my Erasmus exchange semester at RheinAhrCampus, Germany.

I will always have great memories of my Erasmus exchange. I had the chance to interact with people from many other nations, including Iraq, Spain, Canada, the United States, Turkey, and many more. As a result, I was able to expand my understanding of many cultures and viewpoints and make lasting friendships.

During my exchange, I placed a high priority on improving my German and English language abilities. I found that being immersed in a foreign language while living abroad significantly benefited me in achieving this goal. I was able to converse with my students and lecturers in both languages in day-to-day interactions. I also took advantage of the university's language programs, and I noticed a big improvement in both my hearing and speaking abilities.

Learning how to live independently was a crucial part of my journey. This included managing my funds, doing my own washing, and making my own purchases. All of these were new challenges to me, but I was capable of adapting and pick them up really fast. I had to learn how to budget and prioritize my expenses, which gave me a greater understanding of the worth of money. In order to grow personally, I also learnt how to look out for my needs and take care of myself.

Furthermore, the university provided interesting and engaging courses, which were taught by motivated and supportive teachers. They were able to create an environment that encouraged learning and critical thinking. The lectures were interactive and engaging, and the professors were always available to help and give additional guidance.

My time on the Erasmus program was not just about academic and personal development; it was also about having fun and taking in new things. I got to see a lot of new places, eat a lot of different things, and even learn how to make some of the regional cuisine. I also took part in cultural activities and events that the institution sponsored, which gave me the chance to discover my host city and nation.

In conclusion, my time spent on the Erasmus program was a life-changing experience. I was able to enhance my language abilities while still having a good time and forming lasting friendships. The university furthermore offered fascinating and interesting courses that were instructed by motivated and supportive professors. To anyone who is thinking about participating in an exchange program like Erasmus, I would highly advise them to do so since they will have the ability to meet individuals from all backgrounds, travel to new places, and experience personal and academic growth.
