What happens in Germany stays in Germany

Teona from Georgia, Winter Semester 2022/2023

Hello everybody,

My name is Teona and I am from Tbilisi, Georgia. At this stage, I study business administration in the field of management. It was my university that gave me the opportunity to continue my studies in Germany. I have been here for less than 4 months and I can tell you that studying here is the best part of my life. If you ask me why I like Germany so much and what this opportunity has given me, I have so many reasons that we probably won't have time to talk all day, but I will share some special reasons with you. First of all, before coming here, I only knew the history and geographical location of Germany, I had no friends from this country and therefore I was far from the German culture, although I can tell you that from my 4 months of experience, German people are very warm. Their welcome, greeting, smile, all this makes me happy and sometimes I even thought that I am in a dream, because you will not see so many smiling faces in Georgia.

Moreover, studying at RAC taught me many things and made me think about different parts of my life. I'm sure I won't return to Georgia the way I was before I came here, because the teaching methods and system have changed me and taught me to think differently, which I'm sure will be useful in the future. This is what made me think that I should continue the second semester and stay here to grow myself even more. What I like most about the university at this time is the internship, sometimes it sounds unbelievable that I, as an ordinary student, have access to various activities of the university and I’m working at RheinAhrCampus with Sprachen Internationales.

If you asked me about my friends a year ago, I would probably have listed a few Georgians, but now I can confidently say that I have many good friends from different parts of the world. We travel and celebrate all holidays together and try to be together all the time. During the year, I visited more than 10 countries, such as Netherlands, Austria, France, Luxembourg, Italy etc. and main thing is that I have seen already entire west part of Germany, things that I had read just in books, now I’m able to see them in reality, for example museums or important people from History. And when I return to Georgia, these extraordinary memories will cheer me up and color every cloudy day.

If you don't know what you want to do in life and you are confused, just make a quick decision and spend a semester in another country, this decision will completely change your life and put you on the path to the best future. If it doesn't work on the first try, try again and again and it will definitely work. We  live just once, but we can try million times, never give up, and I will continue to study, walk with friends, exercise and do many other activities here near the river, because Rhein keeps me going.

Best wishes,

Teona
