Dr. Karen Sauls 2019

Dr. Karen Sauls 2019 (CCU)

Business Law and Integrated Business Communication

Welcome back! Dr Karen Sauls accompanied groups of students from Coastal Carolina University on their Summer School visits to the Rhineland various times and familiarized herself with our university campus as well as various regional companies before she decided to join us as a visiting professor.

Dr Sauls earned a bachelor's degree in Polictical Science from Noth Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, and a doctorate in Law from Saint Luis University School of Law in St. Louis, MO. She has taught at various universities, including the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication in China. She also owns a Law Firm providing legal assistance in a variety of areas, including civil, criminal and real estate litigation, corporate formation, wills and powers of attorney.

Please consult her CCU faculty profile for more details.

In Summer 2019, Dr Sauls taught two electives in the fields of Business Law and Business Communication at RheinAhrCampus for our undergraduate students (second teaching term):

  1. B25 International Studies II: Integrated Business Communication (B.A.), Mon, 14:15-15:45 (Room A 016), Tue, 16:00-17:30 (Room A017)
  2. B51 International Business Law and its Environment (B.A.), Mon, 11:45-13:15 (Room A016), Tue, 14:15-15:45 (Room A017)

Both courses were extremely valuable for students preparing for a study abroad semester at Coastal Carolina University. Students were able to experience a US-style classroom environment at home - and many of the participants were encouraged to pursue their international options at one of our partner universities.

As the courses were taught in English, some of the participants were exchange students from very different national and cultural contexts - thus providing an ideal basis for a comparative analysis of some of the topics covered in class.

Dr Sauls was also able to meet the participants of this year's summer school program and join some of the joint events for CCU students and RAC students in the Bonn region.

Thanks for a very rewarding faculty visit!
