Myrtle Beach 2022

International Summer School @ CCU

In July 2023, a student group from Koblenz University of Applied Sciences and Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg traveled to South Carolina. They experienced an intensive short-term program at CCU. One important aspect of the transnational cooperation was the practical work with case studies in mixed-nationality teams. The cases focused on real European businesses  and their preparations for their market entry in the United States. The handling of the case studies aimed to boost cooperation across cultures and knowledge transfer while developing language skills and intercultural awareness.

Students also participated in various workshops on a wide variety of subjects. This way they were given the opportunity to find out in what ways the academic environments of German universities and US universities differ - and whether studying in the US for a semester or even a year might be an attractive option. The participants also had to complete assignments based on their case studies and the contents of the workshops they attended. The successful participants of the program were awarded a certificate during the final ceremony.

Excursions (e.g. to Brookgreen Gardens and Charleston), social events, cultural activities, sports events (e.g. a baseball game and a CCU football game) as well as numerous other elements provided the students with a unique chance to experience some glimpses of American culture - not only in a classroom setting.
