Dres. Petroniene and Kasperaviciene (KTU) 2011

RheinAhrCampus Remagen was glad to welcome two lecturers from Kaunas University of Technology on campus. Dr. Saulė Petronienė and Dr. Ramunė Kasperavičienė spent one week on campus.

The teaching staff visit helped to establish and expand personal contacts at faculty level and explore opportunities for future cooperation. It also enabled lecturers from both RAC and KTU to gain and share experience in organising lectures and seminar activities in the fields of English for Specific Purposes, Business English, Translation and Editing.

Most importantly, this teaching staff visit contributed to the international profile of our university by providing our students with additional international exposure and first-hand information about KTU. The lectures and workshops delivered by Dr. Petronienė and Dr. Ramunė Kasperavičienė were integrated into regular classes in order to increase the benefit for a maximum number of students. This is their report about their experience:

TSM @ RAC - Our Experience

At the end of May 2011 we visited RheinAhrCampus and delivered some lectures within the framework of Erasmus Teachers’ Mobility programme.

We were offered a very dynamic and involving programme for one week which we accepted as fulfilling all our expected results and even more. The people at RheinAhrCampus are extremely helpful, professional and warm. Even before the visit, we were provided with all kinds of help and information, starting with the course of the week and the weather forecast. Lecturers are really welcome at RheinAhrCampus.

On the first day of our visit, we were invited to observe a few classes which was a very helpful and necessary step in deciding how to make final modifications to the planned seminars. This also allowed us to see what teaching methods and materials were employed in Business English and TOEFL Preparation classes. Then we had to deliver a few seminars which turned out to be successful and hopefully useful to the students.

We were also given the possibility to meet teachers and students from Coastal Carolina University, USA, which meant new experiences and relationships. Apart from that, we were offered all the necessary help and provided with all the urgent and extra information which we highly appreciated as it made our stay in Remagen easy and comfortable.

We would like to thank everybody in RheinAhrCampus who made our visit as convenient as possible and we could, therefore, make the most benefit from it, both in professional and personal terms. The overall experience was extremely refreshing and useful.
