On 29 June 2022, ERASMUS exchange students and refugee families from Ukraine met at RheinAhrCampus in order to extend a warm welcome and show the connections between campus community and Ukrainian residents of the Ahrweiler district. Sports, games and interactive activities provided a setting which allowed for easy communication. The focus was on information exchange and sharing. Natalia Obikhod, one of the main organisers, remembers the first steps before the launch of the event. “We received so many offers of support - and we really had to reach out and research what the refugees really need. This day turned out to be a wonderful framework to channel many of these offers.” Good food and music provided a positive atmosphere for the event!
