Sustainability, Competitiveness and Social Cohesion in the European Union

Understanding Europe. Shaping a Sustainable Future.

The Jean Monnet Module SUSTAIN-EU at Hochschule Koblenz introduces students and the wider public to the foundations of the European Union—its history, institutions, values and key policy frameworks—while critically examining how the EU’s sustainability transition can foster economic competitiveness and social cohesion.

Through interdisciplinary teaching, applied case studies and dialogue with universities, businesses, NGOs and policymakers, SUSTAIN-EU connects European policy with practical challenges and opportunities. The module promotes EU values, inclusion and informed civic engagement.

Teaching

SUSTAIN-EU combines interdisciplinary, practice-oriented learning on European integration and sustainability governance with policy trade-off analysis and the development of EU-aligned business strategies and recommendations.
