Publications

You may like to browse my list of published works, which is available through my page at ResearchGate.
For your convenience I have sorted the topics of my articles into the following categories (in bold):

Due to my interest in musical accompaniment of silent movies, I have published a few works in the context of Music:

  • Historical background of the Music Score for the Silent Film "Das Blumenwunder" (1926)
  • Arrangement of the above mentioned music by E. Künneke for 2 Pianos (2 players) or Organ
  • Reducing the Occurence of "Tone Voids" in Unified Pipe Organs

Awaiting publication are several ongoing studies on different aspects of Acoustics:

  • Special pipe constructions in organ building for low-frequency tones
  • Models for sound spectra of organ ranks
  • Psychoacoutic effects of low-frequency dyads and triads
  • A psychoacoustic model for the composition of Mixture ranks

From time to time I like to dive into different subjects, and in 2021 this yielded to studying the Geology
in the Rhenish Slate Mountain complex. Locally, I could observe the effects of erosion caused by flowing groundwater:

  • Formation of sinkholes in loess loam caused by subsurface erosion

Before that I have worked for many years on the atomistic mechanisms involved in the Chalcopyrite Formation Process,
which has resulted in many articles described by the following keywords:

  • Thin-Film Solar Cells, Chalcopyrite Absorber Formation (Rapid Thermal Processing), CuInSe2, Cu(In,Ga)Se2, Cu(In,Ga)(Se,S)2
  • X-ray Powder Diffraction, Time-Resolved (in-situ) Measurements, Quantitative Rietveld Analysis, Crystallography
  • Diffusion and Ion-Conductivity, Epitaxial and Topotaxial Growth,  Chemical Formation Reactions in Solid State
  • Sodium Diffusion, Sodium Doping, Sodium Supply

Creating a pn junction in Chalcopyrite Thin Film Solar Cells requires the so-called Buffer Layer:

  • Cadmium Sulfide (CdS) Growth, Chemical Bath Depostion (CBD)
  • Cadmium-free Buffer Layers, Indium Sulfide (In2S3), Zinc Sulfide (Zn(O,S)), Dry Buffer Layer Deposition

Among the papers you will also find some contributions dealing with the visible spectrum, i.e. with Optics and Optical Metrology:

  • Four-Wave-Mixing in Optically Non-linear Bi12TiO20 (BTO) Crystals
  • Spatial Thickness Determination of Thin Films on Rough Substrates
  • Coloured Thin Film Solar Modules with an Interference Filter
