Study in a friendly atmosphere

Study in a friendly atmosphere

Remagen is a town in the Ahrweiler district of northern Rhineland-Palatinate. The campus takes its name from it's excellent location on the left bank if the Rhine, close to the beautiful Ahr river. It is just a stone's throw away from North Rhine-Westphalia. Remagen borders the Bad Godesberg district of Bonn. There are many places to enjoy your free time both in Remagen and in the nearby cities of Koblenz, Bonn and Cologne.

The Rhine promenade in Remagen affords a fantastic view down the Rhine of Oberwinter, Marienfels Castle, Ernich Castle and the Siebengebirge hills. The beautiful 19th century villas along the Rhine are also worth seeing. Upstream on the other side of the Rhine, you can see the Erpeler Ley rock face.

It's all happening at the RheinAhrCampus! The General Student Committee (AStA) always ensures that campus life is vibrant and varied – from parties and sports events to organised holidays and the BaRACke student-run bar. They also organise a wide range of recreational activities on land and water.

Students at the Remagen campus can travel free of charge to the cities of Koblenz, Bonn and Cologne with their semester ticket travel pass. Studying in Remagen offers you an ideal combination of a friendly campus atmosphere and city flair.

The Federal City of Bonn is right next door!

Bonn, the former capital of the Federal Republic of Germany, evolved into a cultural hub on the Rhine after the relocation of the federal government to the city. In addition to its beautiful city centre, busy shopping areas, beer gardens, restaurants, cafes and excellent museums, there are many other attractions in this university city.  With its magnificent 19th century villas, Jugendstil town houses and the beautiful Rhine promenade, where you can enjoy views of the Siebengebirge forests and hills, the city is well worth a visit. The Rheinaue Leisure Park with its beautiful lakes and gardens is also a popular local attraction.

South-eastwards: Koblenz, the home of our main campus

Situated on the banks of the Rhein and Moselle rivers, Koblenz is one of the oldest cities in Germany. This university city has a vibrant metropolitan flair, bringing together old traditions and contemporary influences.

Students in Koblenz have a great deal to celebrate beyond the lecture theatres and libraries. The city's lively nightlife has plenty to offer students. With so many restaurants, cafes, clubs, bars and beer gardens in the old town, the Rheinanlagen meadows and other lovely parts of the city, there are no shortage of places for students to unwind and take a break from demanding lectures and exams.

Northwards: The cathedral city of Cologne

Sometimes called Italy's northernmost city, Cologne is famous for its friendly atmosphere and lively outdoor social life. No other city in Germany has such an abundance of open-air restaurants and cafes. And of course, there is also Cologne's distinctive nightlife: the city has the highest density of bars and pubs in Germany, not to mention its lively and varied club scene. Kölsch culture is best experienced in Cologne's historic centre. The cathedral, a UNESCO world heritage site, is just a few steps away from the Rhine promenade with its characteristic colourful gabled houses. You can enjoy a cold beer at one of the city's many breweries.

If you're interested in arts and culture, why not explore some of Cologne's 40+ museums and 100 art galleries, or check out the city's vibrant theatre scene? The Rheinauhafen waterfront district, shopping streets, narrow alleys in the historic old town and the Belgian Quarter make a visit to Cologne an unforgettable experience.

Carnival season is a great time to experience Cologne's atmosphere at its liveliest – the whole city takes to the streets to celebrate. The Kölsch zest for life is infectious; for students at the RheinAhrCampus, the hustle and bustle of the city is within easy reach and travel is free of charge with the semester ticket travel pass.
