Health and Social Management

Both the health care industry as well as the social sector are facing major challenges. An aging and socially diverse society, increased competition and high quality medical and social care are driving up costs, while only limited financial and human resources are available to address this. This poses major challenges for the health and social care system. Therefore, business aspects must also be taken into account when working in health and social services. Today, business disciplines such as business management, controlling and financial management, marketing or human resources management – just to name a few – ensure the survival of hospitals, relief organizations, nursing homes, institutions for the disabled, outpatient services or non-profit organisations. At the same time, however, it is particularly important in the management of health care and social organisations to not lose sight of legal and ethical values.

Would you like to take on these challenges and help shape an exciting health care and social services industry? With a combined Health and Social Management study programme, you will acquire all the important business knowledge as well as industry-specific know-how in health and social work. In addition to the courses at the RheinAhrCampus, the programme also includes a 26-week practical phase, where you will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge you have learned in the lectures in a company. Alternatively, you can also complete a semester abroad. A Bachelor's degree in Health and Social Management will allow you to pursue many career paths in health and social work facilities, while also keeping the option of working in any other business organisation open to you after graduation.

After completing our programme with a Degree in Business Administration, you will be equipped with the skills to independently work on and solve business management tasks in an interdisciplinary manner.
As a trained generalist, you will learn to examine problems using a holistic approach and implement health and social management requirements through the application of specialist knowledge.

In addition to technical knowledge, the programme pays special attention to teaching methodological knowledge and social skills. The Bachelor's programme is designed to enable you to analyse processes and problems in business practice, to develop practice-oriented solutions to problems, and to take into account both international relations as well as contexts in other fields.

After completing your studies, you will be able to apply your knowledge and skills in all organisations in the health and social sector, from hospitals and different social institutions to health insurance companies or recreational and educational facilities.
