WE MOVE

WE MOVE

Richard from the USA , Summer Semester 2019

When starting the semester I didn’t know what to expect. I had done a previous study abroad in Japan but Germany would be completely new to me. When I first arrived I was surprised. This was because everywhere I’ve been it's been a big city. So that was one of the main things that surprised me. This then became one of my favorite aspects of Remagen. The scenery on the walk to school became one of my favorite parts of the semester as well as the distance it took to get to the school and the train station. I actually ended up losing weight because I had to walk everywhere to the point where my jeans wouldn't fit me. I knew traveling was easy before coming here but I didn't think I would be taking trips so often. The student card was one of my favorite features that I enjoyed. I traveled almost every weekend to the Netherlands since it was two and a half hours away. Traveling by plane was also cheap so exploring around europe and learning about the language was definitely a big plus. Before coming I was worried about making friends. I had read that Germans stick to their friends groups and rarely talk to random people. I found this to be completely untrue because by my first three weeks there I was already walking around campus saying hey to people I had only met once. Now at the end of the semester I constantly have stopped my conversations with friends because I see somebody else I know. While it did take a little time once they got to know me it was like we were best friends. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my semester at the RheinAhrCampus. I was able to enjoy a brand new experience while also making friends in which I will know for the rest of my life. WE MOVE
