Anna Moisio from Finland, Winter Semester 2008/2009

Hi all!

My name is Anna, and I come from a place where the winters are snowy and the summers are bright, also during the nights; Finland. I spent the winter semester 2008/2009 at RheinAhrCampus, and it was one of the best winters of my life, with lots of snow to make me feel more at home. The decision to go abroad for an exchange to RheinAhrCampus happened very quickly (within a few weeks), and it was possible only because of the great support and flexibility of the people in the International Office here in Germany as well in my university in Finland.

The city of Remagen is quite small, but the surrounding area is amazing. You can see beautiful vineyards from the campus and the river Rhein flows near by. Bigger cities such Bonn, Koblenz and Cologne are close by too. The best thing is that you can travel to these cities free of charge with your local student card.

I had really interesting courses here. The best course was definitely International Business Simulations. There I met students from Germany, Spain, Slovakia and Poland and we had such a great time. During this course I learned to improve my social and leadership skills, and moreover I had the chance to act in a simulated company, which was very close to real life. In addition, I enjoyed the courses "National Economy" and "Strategic Marketing". I learnt a lot of new things about the German economy.

During the semester I met friendly and out-going people. Especially in the region of Rheinland-Pfalz, people are sociable, and almost everybody speaks good English. So you don’t have to worry if your German is a bit rusty. The best thing here was that I became good friends with other exchange students. I’m 100 % sure that we will stay in touch.

My thanks go to International Office, my classmates in the Master degree programme and to all other people that I had the chance to get to know.

I had a brilliant time at RheinAhrCampus!
