Institute for X-Optics

The IXO field of research is soft x-ray science, especially the development and application of innovative soft x-ray optics and interferometers. These optics can be utilized for various applications in the soft x-ray wavelength regime like x-ray microscopy, near edge x-ray absorption spectroscopy (NEXAFS), extreme ultraviolet lithography or plasma spectroscopy. These experiments take place both at electron storage rings (like ESRF, BESSY) comprising synchrotron radiation as x-ray source or laboratory sources like laser produced plasmas, high harmonic radiation and x-ray lasers.

Institute for Sports Management and Sports Medicine

The Institute for Sports Management and Sports Medicine (ISS) was established by the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Mathematics and Technology at RheinAhrCampus in 2002. Its main pillars are academic further training and sports-related research. Sports Management and Sports-Medical Engineering are strongly inter-connected in the ISS activities. In recent years, ISS was able to establish a strong position in the Golf sector. The institute offers a unique further training course for Golf Manageers and develops and tests golf equipment on its own indoor driving range.
