Professorship for refractory engineering

The European Centre for Refractories gGmbH (ECREF) is a European centre of excellence for the refractories industry in Höhr-Grenzhausen. The ECREF focuses on education, training and knowledge transfer between colleges, universities, research institutes and the refractories industry.

The following professorship is to be filled in the department building-art-materials at the location Höhr-Grenzhausen as soon as possible:

Professor (f/m/d)
  for refractory engineering

 (Employment relationship under private law, limited to three years)

The position is 50% at the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences (remuneration according to salary group W 1) and 50% at the cooperation partner European Centre for Refractories gGmbH.

Your tasks

• Representation of teaching (in German and English) in the field of refractory engineering and process engineering with a focus on the conversion of production processes to climate neutrality in the degree programmes "Materials Engineering Glass and Ceramics" and "Ceramic Science and Engineering" and development of an English-language training programme for refractory engineering (CAS).
• Establishment of a research profile as well as national and international research activities incl. publications
• Networking with regional stakeholders (companies, associations, etc.)
• Participation in academic self-administration

Your profile:

• Professional expertise in the teaching area Expertise in the above-mentioned teaching areas.
• Enthusiasm for working with young people and their development.
• Openness for the further development and implementation of innovative teaching concepts.
• Openness to taking on new teaching content within the framework of the long-term, strategic and, if necessary, interdisciplinary further development of the range of courses offered.
• High social competence in dealing with students, colleagues, and employees.
• Good German and English skills (minimum C1-level).

The hiring requirements for professorships result from § 56 para. 1 S. 1 and § 54 of the Higher Education Act of Rhineland-Palatinate (HochSchG).
